Abstract

An exhibition of students work from the B.Sc. (hons) architectural technology programme exploring specifically at the role of the building fabric have on the issue of building adaptation. The exhibition took place in the Old Preston Post Office as part of the Bob North (Best of Britannia) 2015 event.

The exhibition was designed to demonstrate that through careful adaptation and manipulation of the building fabric that new uses can be housed within exiting building and that technology is the way forwards. It also highlighted the various issues surrounding empty and unused buildings (and spaces), by being exhibited in a prominent and historically significant building located in the centre of Preston. It also demonstrated that while the issues are very northern, the solutions could be found within the local knowledge base.
