Global Sound Movement: Listen to The World

Abstract

Global Sound Movement (GSM) have travelled over 62,000 miles in order to capture the unique sonic attributes of both rare traditional instruments and the ambience of specific locations. By recording and documenting different audio landscapes and culturally significant instruments from both sides of the boarder, this collection of virtual instruments and recordings presents the unique sound of Africa, Cyprus, Bali and Gibraltar.
Every note of each instrument was sampled at 96Khz, 24bit WAV and captured twenty five times. These recordings were completed in distinctive native spaces to ensue authenticity. Through the post-production process, virtual instruments were constructed that integrate with Logic’s EXS24, Native Instruments Kontakt and Ableton. Instruments such as the Santori from Cyprus requires three hours to tune before any recording / live performance can take place, the GSM sample libraries and virtual instruments enable musicians to recreate the sound of this rare instrument without the need to tune.
Environmental recordings also captured at 96 KHz, 24 bit WAV ensure high quality alongside the instruments to create a truly unique sound library that can be included in original productions providing innovative sound pallets.
