Abstract
Although we would consider it exceptional to drink alcohol at work, the message on this slide shows how relatively normal it was thought to be at one time, even when operating machinery.
Drink was presented as even more of a danger when moving vehicles were involved. There were temperance societies for railway workers, sailors and motorists, all targeted in this lantern slide.
