Abstract

This article discusses the historic and constant elements of Brazil-US relations and how the strategic partnership (SP) established by Brazil and China in 1993 can be understood from this perspective. I argue that both bilateral relations are equivalent in threats and opportunities for Brazil and that the establishment of a strategic partnership has had irrelevant impacts over general diplomatic relations between the current superpower, the emergent power, and economic powerhouse, and the South American giant.
