Abstract

An interview by Mary-Anne Hobbs of Radio 6Music, available via the App 'BBC Sounds' at https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06nqfgn

The interview on BBC Radio6 Music attracted positive comments and support from around the world via the BBC Radio6, via Twitter, Facebook.
The Time Machine was filled with the sounds of the local community inspired by their personal memories of particular songs.
Each memory evoked by a particular soundtrack, takes the person back to a moment when they were different people, in a different space and time. The audio enables a kind of leapfrogging over decades of everyday life experiences, to reveal how individual and cultural memory resonates in the shaping of social space, and the soundscape’s deep connection to place.

The event was free to the public and engaged with over 500 people at the venue and many thousands more via online social media and Radio 6Music.
