Abstract
This thesis surrounds the archaeology of the fifth, sixth and seventh centuries AD, more specifically the Anglo-Saxon ‘art’. Rather than using previous historical interpretations of AS ‘art’, this study uses a possible theoretical and social framework to answer the question ‘what was art in the AS period?’
