Abstract

1-Butyl-3-methyl imidazolium acetate ionic liquid as a catalyst for an aqua mediated eco-friendly was successfully employed for the synthesis of 2-Amino-4H-chromene derivatives through multi component reaction at room temperature. The mild basicity of used ionic liquid initializes the reaction through Knoevenagel condensation in a controlled manner to obtain a high to an excellent yield of desired product with no side reaction. Analytical and spectral (NMR, IR, UV–Vis and LCMS) data confirms the synthesized 2-Amino-4H-chromene derivatives and also the synthesized catalytic system were analysed by EDS, XPS and BET analysis. In addition to that present protocol provides attractive features like operational simplicity, high yield with less time consuming, easy separation of product and high reusability of ionic liquid for seven times with similar efficiency.
