Abstract

Local student Katherine Marsh, 19, is experiencing the American way of life during a
four month stay at Central Connecticut State University.
Katherine, a former pupil of Astley Cooper School is currently studying for a degree in
Film and Media with American Studies at the University of Central Lancashire in
Preston. She is taking part in the University's popular student exchange programme,
which allows students to spend up to a year studying at an overseas institution.
As well as studying hard, she has managed to fit in some travelling around the New
England area and is hoping to visit New York, Boston and Salem before she returns to
the UK.
"It's a great experience to live and study here for four months", says Katherine. "Being
at university gives you plenty of opportunity for things you may have never considered
doing in your life."
Katherine will be returning to the UK at Christmas to complete the rest of her course at
the University of Central Lancashire. She eventually plans to find a job in the media
industry.
