Abstract

A seminar hosted by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust to hear about and discuss the findings from a recent national study for the Department of Health conducted by researchers at the University of Central Lancashire. The research reviewed the extent to which Independent Mental Health Advocate (IMHA) services are providing accessible, effective and appropriate support for the diversity of qualifying patients under the 1983 Mental Health Act (MHA), and identified factors that influence the quality of provision.
