Abstract

Local student Bianca Hall is celebrating receiving a top award from the University of
Central Lancashire in Preston.
Bianca, 23, is currently studying at Myerscough College in Lancashire, a partner college
of the University, on the second year of a BSc(Hons) Agriculture (Livestock
Technology) course. She was presented with the Tim Curtis/Partnership Award by
University Vice-Chancellor Malcolm McVicar for the outstanding progress she has
made since starting her degree.
Bianca was watched by her proud foster parents the Gamgees, from Bardney, who have
looked after her for nearly eight years. Working with animals has been her life-long
dream and after being in a series of foster homes from an early age, Bianca came to live
with Mr and Mrs Gamgee, who gave her the extra support she needed.
Her determination to succeed has already earned Bianca, who also has dyslexia, the
award of Dairy Student of the Year at Moulton College in 2000. When she finishes her
studies in Lancashire, she intends to take a Masters degree in Agriculture and Livestock
at Aberdeen University.
"I enjoy working with cattle and one day I'll have my own dairy farm", she says. "I
owe a great deal to Nan (my foster mother) for helping me to make this happen."
