UCLAN Cluster Research Repository Policy
In support of the objectives stated in the 2007-2012 UCLAN Medium Term Strategy and the long term stewardship and preservation of scholarly works in digital form, the University Director of Research encourages strongly the deposit of research publications and papers in the UCLAN research repository - CLoK. Due to the differing archival requirements between disciplines, and varying research cultures for the different subjects covered by the University, the Research Clusters are responsible for deciding some of the policies for the archiving of research output. These issues are:
- The type of material to be uploaded to the repository
- The publication status of the content
- Whether access to any unpublished material should be restricted
- The mechanism for ensuring high quality content and the way this is communicated to repository staff
The policies for each Cluster are listed below. Also listed are the contacts within each cluster should you have any questions about the archiving policy of the Clusters, and any restriction on who can upload material under the Clusters' names.
Education
Research Repository Cluster Contact: Yvon Appleby
Cluster Administrator: David Howard
Only research published as journal articles, book sections, books or monographs will be uploaded to the Research repository under the Education Cluster. This material must have been published and only peer-reviewed material will be made Open Access, subject to publisher Open access Archive policies.
EFL (incorporating Second Language Acquisition, Testing & Enhancement)
Research Repository Cluster Contact: Michael Thomas
Only research published as journal articles, book sections, books or monographs will be uploaded to the Research repository under the EFL Cluster name. This material must have been published and only peer-reviewed material will be made Open Access, subject to publisher Open access Archive policies.
Peer reviewed and other published work will be uploaded and made available on an Open Access basis by default subject to publishers Open Access Archiving Policies. However, all work may be subject to later take down at the behest of the Cluster coordinator.
Environmental Sustainability
Research Repository Cluster Contact : Kevin Butt
Research published in any format and will be uploaded to the Research Repository under the Environmental Sustainability Cluster name. Peer reviewed and other published work will be uploaded and made available on an Open Access basis by default subject to publishers Open Access Archiving Policies. However, all work may be subject to later take down at the behest of the Cluster coordinator.
Unpublished materials will not be accepted onto the repository under this cluster's policies.
History

Law

Research published in any format and will be uploaded to the Research Repository under the Law Cluster name.
Peer reviewed and other published work will be uploaded and made available on an Open Access basis by default subject to publishers Open Access Archiving Policies. However, all work may be subject to later take down at the behest of the Cluster coordinator.
The upload and publication of submitted drafts and other unpublished work will be subject to approval by the Cluster Coordinator and will be carried out by them. If you wish to upload unpublished materials please contact the Research repository Cluster Contact.
Midwifery
Research Repository Cluster Contact : Marie-Claire Balaam
All uploads of research out-put will be carried out by the Cluster Contact and any queries need to be communicated through them.
Research published in any format may be uploaded to the Research Repository under the Midwifery Cluster name. Peer reviewed publications will be uploaded and made available on an Open Access basis by default, subject to publishers Open Access Archiving Policies.
The upload of Non-Peer reviewed publications will be subject to scientific review by the MAINN and ReaCH groups before being submitted to the Research Repository. The access allowed to non-peer reviewed and unpublished work will be assessed on a case by case basis and issues such as confidentiality, data-protection and contractual arrangements will be taken into consideration.
