I grew up in a village in Imo State, South Eastern in Nigeria where I helped farm our family land. Consequently, I have a keen insight into the culture and ways in which poor farmers, in particular females, conduct their affairs in my own and other African countries. My research interest is primarily in how financial sector reforms and access to financial services from conventional versus microfinance institutions can significantly contribute to the achievement of those Millennium Development Goals associated with poverty alleviation, access to education and health care services, as well as gender equality in Sub-Saharan Africa.
