Infrastructure and assets: what role history?

Abstract

Distinctive features of the new Infrastructure Asset Management (IAsMa) journal are highlighted. Infrastructure and assets are briefly considered in terms of the supply chains and manufacturing functions that produce them (the processes) and, the built and civil engineered infrastructure that results from those processes (the products). In this context, it is asserted that both processes and products suffer from a dearth of research relating to their history. The unique opportunity this offers potential IAsMa authors is outlined and the future submission of IAsMa historical-themed papers is welcomed.
