Abstract

Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) comprise a family of ubiquitous proline-directed, protein-serine / threonine kinases, which participate in signal transduction pathways that control intracellular events including acute responses to hormones and major developmental changes in organisms. This review focuses mainly on cardiac remodelling via the MAPK pathway and focuses on the role of MAPKs in various pathological diseases, with an emphasis on cardiac remodelling, hypertrophy, and myocardial cell death.
