Abstract

This chapter begins by outlining the physiological changes that can occur when people are exposed to helicopter underwater egress training (HUET). It then considers how the resulting neurochemical changes in the brain can lead to cognitive failures and discusses factors that can mediate those changes. Finally, based on the research presented in this chapter, recommendations for HUET are given.
