Abstract
As an artist specifically concerned with the chimerical potential of space, I fabricate places of disruption and resistance using digital means in a socio-political framework. Social constructions of gender, perpetuated and hyper-normalised through the use of digital technology and cinematic framing, are playfully deconstructed, as sculptural and digital installations and events form spaces of becoming.
Politicised and reactionary, this practice-led project presents a dualistic speaker situated both in real space and in the space of cinema. With the aid of a projection screen, representations of place are playfully performed so that the occupied site becomes a radical framework in which to reimagine the world order. Using cinematic apparatus as a medium, such as script, editing, and special effects, this work sits between real and imaginary space as a way to explore recent events from the perspective of the female occupant-come-performer.
