Abstract
Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) has received almost no attention in the literature to date, and its documentation affords an exciting opportunity to understand sign language variation in more depth. Applying an innovative methodological blend of linguistic typology and Variationist Sociolinguistics to a corpus of data from two varieties of BISINDO, Palfreyman presents a detailed comparison for the grammatical domains of completion and negation, and shows how these findings shed light on our understanding of grammaticalisation in sign languages.
