Abstract
The castle market was a former indoor market built in the 1960s in Sheffield city centre. It was built on the banks of the river Don and on top of the remains of Sheffield castle. The market was closed in 2013 and subsequently demolished. I was appointed artist in residence at the market for 2012-13 and spent a year photographing the life of the market. Some of this work formed a small exhibition which was shown in the market shortly before it closed, all the images I created during this residency where deposited in Sheffield city archives. A small selection of the black and white images I created were published by Cafe Royal books in 2017.
