Abstract

Time and temporality are vital aspects of archaeology. They influence both how we compose our arguments and what we think of in terms of the limits of archaeological interpretation. As a structuring principle, our temporal schemes provide one of the most significant aspects that inform and limit archaeological narratives; however, the latent influence of these schemes can be significantly underacknowledged. Temporality as part of recent reflexive approaches has provided one of the most important late‐twentieth‐century themes in archaeological description. Both these interlinked themes represent essential aspects of the ways in which we construct archaeological narratives
