Abstract

A commissioned written critique of the recently completed restoration and extension of Charles Rennie Macjintosh' Willow Tearooms by Simpson and Brown Architects. The article investigates the research led restoration methodology employed by the architects whilst drawing parallels with between the social and cultural conditions that informed the original design completed in 1903 and the contemporary restoration project.
