Abstract

A creative writing workshop resource for people who have been bereaved. This writing resource will help you to write poems in the months and years after bereavement, focusing on an object to help you bring back memories. It can be used in group work or for you to write by yourself.
If you like, you can look up examples of poems about loss that other poets have written - these may help you to gain inspiration. Links to example poems are provided on the link to Magma poetry magazine's website.
Don't feel that you have to start out with a devastating experience of loss - you might prefer to start out by writing about losing a precious ring, or the day your pet died.
This writing prompt was created for Magma poetry magazine's website and developed from an exercise used by UCLan counsellor Peter Cardew.
