Abstract

Examines how Sudan might improve its access to medicines prior to acceding to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights 1994. Reviews economic factors influencing such access, potential improvements to the intellectual property regime, and how industry standards and foreign direct investment might be strengthened. Discusses Sudan's potential as a generic drug manufacturer.
