A computational model is devised to study the contact dynamic characteristics of moving parts within an overall system. The system model consists of a number of modules to describe its components and their interaction under dynamic conditions. A step-by-step iterative integration algorithm is used to solve the second order time dependent differential equations of motion. The model allows easy simulation of many practical features in contact problems. A number of model applications are described in some detail and some results are presented in both time and frequency domains. The solution is found to be comprehensive, providing complete time history of many system unknown parameters that traditional modelling methods fail to do.
