Abstract

The figure of the geographer Christian Garnier (1872-1898), extraordinarily active and fertile both in France and in Italy notwithstanding the premature disappearance, deserves to be adequately rediscovered for two reasons: as a reliable witness to a moment of European history and as an influential protagonist of a phase of geographical science, which always constitute the foundations, which must be taken absolutely into account, of our world and our way of doing geography.
