Abstract
The research aimed to evaluate the key compliance factors influencing the compliance with Housing Space Standards by local authorities, developers, and housing associations across England. The research study was carried out in 5 phases. The first phase involved a general review of compliance frameworks across many industries apart from the planning and housing industry. The second phase involved the thematic analysis of housing space standards and semi-structured interviews of key stakeholders in the industry. The third phase involved the conduct of questionnaire survey for identification and subsequent ranking of the key compliance factors. The fourth phase provided a set of hypotheses, which were used to investigate and present a detailed discussion of findings for the varied relationships between the compliance factors and spatial quality of NBHs in England. In the final analysis, the fifth phase involved the provision of key recommendations to the UK Government, Local Planning Authorities, Housing Developers, and House Developers respectively.
