Abstract
Architectural Submission, to international competition, in Hämeenkyrö, Finland.
the Conceptual approach undertaken was to provide a trip to the forest through six ‘Child’s Landscapes’.
The trip consists of two parts:
The first is the daily journey, day in a child's life.
The other is a school trip, child's life at school.
A daily trip is made through the gated community garden / roof garden. Everyday teaching and about animals, plants and
taking care of vegetables takes place in those gardens. The day ends when you reach the top of the forest.
From kindergarten to school a ‘Landscape of a Child’
The child's haven is one of six landscapes. Each landscapes image deals with the phenomenological relationship between nature and the child, as well as between the landscape and the child:
The Land of Infinite Projection
The Land of Isolated Incidence
The Land of Unfettered Impact
The Land of Uncertain Points
The Land of Unfettered Impact
The Land of Mutual Emplacement
School children are encouraged to design terrains in more detail in the future. All six child-scale landscapes, as well as the outdoor Auditorium, ‘negotiate’ between the changing levels of the terrain on the way to the top.
