Abstract

UNICEF two new publications: Action to End Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation and A Review of the Evidence 2020 were produced with financial support from the End Violence Fund a global partnership fund that aims to produce evidence to prevent and respond to violence against children.

The Evidence Review documents what we know about the extent, nature and consequences of child sexual abuse and exploitation for children in different contexts and the evidence on effective interventions and strategies to prevent and respond to it. The findings from the review are intended to aid further work by UNICEF, partner organizations, researchers, practitioners and policy makers on preventing and responding to child sexual abuse and exploitation, taking into account encouraging developments and complimenting ongoing programs such as the World Health Organisation’s INSPIRE (seven strategies to end violence against children) and RESPECT (strategies to end gender based violence).

Action to End Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, including online, is intended for policy makers and partners, uses key findings from the evidence review commissioned to propose a framework of action to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation. This document was created following an extensive consultation with global violence prevention and human rights organisations, academic experts and policy and practice leads within UNICEF.
