Abstract

This is an address written to the British Temperance League which extends a welcome to Preston, ‘the Bethlehem of the Temperance Movement’.

In Conference Assembled at Preston
June 25th 1907

The Members of the “Rechabite” Order, the Order of the “Sons of Temperance”, the International Order of “Good Templars” and the British Women’s Temperance Association residing in this District, desire to extend to you a hearty and cordial welcome on the occasion of your visit to this Ancient Borough of Preston, the Bethlehem of the Temperance movement.

As co-workers in the cause of Temperance we wish you God-speed in your efforts to promote the sobriety and happiness of our fellow countrymen and women. We pray that Almighty God will guide your deliberations and crown your labours with abundant success.
