At Livesey’s death there were condolences sent by all the temperance organisations: this one is from the Manchester Salford and District Temperance Union, expressing its sympathies and condolences to the surviving Livesey family after Joseph’s death.”

Advocates’ Quarterly Meeting held in the Old Town Hall, King Street, Manchester, Wednesday September 3rd 1884. J.W. Crossley Esq J.P. in the Chair.
Resolved,
That this meeting of Temperance Advocates desires to express its sincere sympathy with the bereaved family of the late
Mr. Joseph Livesey
the distinguished Temperance Pioneer whose noble services in the temperance cause and in other great moral movements have blessed humanity and added to the honour of the Country and to the glory of God.
Executive Meeting held in the Board Room 20 Cross Street, Manchester, Monday September 8th 1884.
Resolved,
That the Executive of the Manchester Salford and District Temperance Union desire to condole with the sorrowing family of the late
Mr. Joseph Livesey
a true patriot, whose faithful and continued labours in the Temperance movement and in other great reforms, have made his name loved and revered by the nation and by all English speaking people.
