Lancashire Temperance Workers

Abstract

This illustration of figures from the early days of the temperance movement shows that Joseph Livesey (no. 2) did not work in isolation, although he was known as ‘the father of teetotalism.’ In particular, Thomas Walmsley (no. 3) had a great influence on the movement, both in Preston and further afield.
