Abstract
This centenary gathering, celebrating the formation of a Temperance (not total abstinence) society in Blackburn in 1831, shows representatives from the Rechabites, the Band of Hope, the Independent Order of Good Templars, and the Women’s Temperance Union.

Bates, J.P.), The Mayoress (Mrs. Bates), Rev. W. Horne, Mrs. Frank Harrison, and Mr. T. Lewis (Lees Hall), with Mr. W. E. Moss behind, together with representatives of the Rechabite movement, Band of Hope Union, I.O.G. Templars, and British Women's Temperance Association.
