Abstract
This image, attacking moderation in drinking, shows teetotalism as not only safer but more ‘modern’ than the original meaning of temperance, moderate drinking. This image was printed in a pamphlet, The Temperance Picture Gallery, and reprinted in the Preston Temperance Advocate, both published by Joseph Livesey in 1836.
THE DANGEROUS MODERATION BRIDGE, AND THE TEE-TOTAL SAFETY BRIDGE.
