Abstract

An architectural competition design submitted for the re-use of The Bramante Nymphaeum in Genazzano near Rome. The Bramante Nymphaeum is a unique architecture by Donato Bramante, built in the fifteenth century for the Colonna family. It was the main element of a big garden, with lakes and a small river, realized on the hillside of the lower town, but abandoned soon after completion, and the lack of sources led to many misunderstandings about its origin and function. We proposed reusing this space as a community theatre set in an agrarian landscape.
