Abstract

What is the problem, issue or question that the Round Table will address?

In addition to disparities faced by people with intellectual disability compared to the general population, further inequalities exists for people from ethnic minorities in rates of mental and physical health problems. People with a learning disability from ethnic minority backgrounds experience poorer access and experiences of healthcare services and poorer health outcomes.

This round table discussion provided an opportunity to formulate an international perspective on the challenges of gathering data, analysis, informing policy and developing reasonable adjustments for providing care for minority groups with an aim to develop a consensus and guidance.
Presentations will outline the current models of care, disease prevalence, known barriers and facilitators to health care and interventions to improve outcomes. Evidence from a study in England will outline the approach taken to explore inequality at a national level.
