Abstract
Pupils at a Preston school have come up with an award winning design to help promote
an innovative new project aimed at providing on-line resources for nurses.
Year Ten students at Priory Technology College, Penwortham, were asked to come up
with a suitable logo for the Students On-line in Nursing Integrated Curricula (SONIC)
project, as part of their GCSE art portfolio. Overall winner was Charlotte Lepre-Slater,
with Rachel Gibson and Jenny Ng getting second and third prizes.
The SONIC project is being delivered by a consortium of nursing departments in four
universities, including the University of Central Lancashire. As a problem-based
learning method (PBL), it encourages nursing students to use web-based learning
materials, including practical case studies, to help them in their studies and in day-today
work situations. Priory Technology College was recruited to help project directors
in their aim to publicise the scheme more widely throughout the country.
