Abstract

Wetherby student Matthew Lowrey was one of the many talented young designers who exhibited their work at the recent Art and Design Degree Show, at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

Matthew, 22, a former pupil of St Aidan's School, Harrogate, has just completed a degree in Product Design at the University. His final year show included a device to be used in removing graffiti, designed as a self-contained unit and carried as a backpack. The unit works in a similar way to the old 'soda stream' devices and contains its own water pack, removing the need to be connected to a water supply. This allows the wearer to enter places with limited access, such as the underside of railway bridges.

Now that he has completed his degree, Matthew is looking for work as a product designer. His ambition is to work in the film industry, as a set and prop designer.
