Abstract
Chimpanzees are our closest relatives in the animal kingdom. They are highly
intelligent and social animals and few humans know them better than world famous
scientist and chimp expert Jane Goodall.
The story of Jane Goodall will be brought to Preston, when she delivers the Institute of
Biology Christmas Lecture hosted by the University of Central Lancashire. "A Twinkle
of Hope" will cover her pioneering research work, which started over 40 years ago in
Tanzania, and which revolutionised the way we think about chimpanzees and ourselves.
Proceeds from the lecture will go directly to the Jane Goodhall Institute to fund its
projects.
The lecture takes place on Monday 16 December at 1.30 pm in the Harrington Lecture
Theatre. The audience will also get the opportunity to purchase books written by Jane
and other merchandise.
