Abstract

Littleborough student Helen Bridge is having the time of her life during a three month
stay at Central Connecticut State University in the USA.
Helen, 20, is currently studying for a degree in Film and Media Studies at the University
of Central Lancashire in Preston. She is taking part in the University's popular student
exchange programme, where students can spend up to a year studying at institutions
overseas.
A former student of Wardle High School, Helen is enjoying her stay in Connecticut,
where she is living and working with students from all over the world. She has been
taking an active part in the University's International Relations Club, which is dedicated
to promoting international friendships and improving intercultural relationships.
"Making the transition from studying in Preston to studying here was always going to
be a big challenge, but it has been the best experience of my life", says Helen. "The
campus is beautiful - a mixture of the old and the new and a very safe and secure place
to live and study."
Helen is due to return to Preston at Christmas to complete the rest of her studies. She
hopes to have a career in the media industry when she graduates.
