Abstract
Preston drama student Michelle Hordem had just enjoyed the experience of a lifetime,
when she was employed as an extra on a US movie.
The former Kirkham Grammar pupil, from Walton Park is currently studying for a
Contemporary Performing Arts degree at the University of Central Lancashire. She is
taking part in the University's student exchange programme, spending a year at the
Virginia Commonwealth University in America.
Michelle, 22, was lucky enough to work on the set of 'Iron-Jawed Angels', a film about
the American suffragette movement. She has already done some filming, playing a
factory worker, a bohemian in a bar scene and a suffragette and has been asked back to
do some further filming in the coming weeks.
"It's all been quite exciting", says Michelle. "The film stars Julia Ormond, Angelica
Houston and Hilary Swank, plus some other big names. I am hoping that it will be
released in the UK as well as the USA. It's a whole new experience for me and lots of
fun."
Michelle will be returning to Preston next summer to complete the final year of her
degree course. She eventually plans in do a master's degree in Theatre Studies.
