Abstract
Staff from United Utilities have recently received recognition for months of hard work
in a recent award ceremony held at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.
All of those involved had achieved the Advisor NVQ units, part of the NVQ 4 in
Learning Development and had attended the Department of Business Development's
'Training for Assessors' programme. This programme is run by the University as part
of an exciting and innovative scheme which enables staff from United Utilities to fasttrack
to a University qualification directly relevant to their careers.
This is the first time the University has undertaken accreditation for an external
organisation's in-house training, with the first set of students gaining their awards in
July 2001. This particular group of award holders is now qualified to assess the
competence of co-workers as part of the United Utilities 'Licence to Operate' scheme.
