Abstract

Students seeking a career in the fields of personnel management and training should look
no further than the BA (Hons) in Human Resource Management oiTered by the University
of Central Lancashire in Preston.
Not only do graduates emerge with a degree, but the course also leads to graduate
membership of a professional body, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Human resource management (HRM)is an increasingly important function which plays a
significant role in the management of organisations. This degree, a four year course, with
one year spent in a supervised work placement, should equip students with the specialist
skills and knowledge to work successfully in a variety of personnel management careers.
Head of the University's Management Department Professor Graham Kelly said: 'The
course gained unconditional accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and
Development and was praised for a range of good practices, including the etTective
management of the placement process, the rigorous assessment process and the range of
teaching and learning methods."
