Abstract
Each summer, for the past five years, the University of Central Lancashire has
welcomed students from universities in Japan, giving them the chance to enjoy a three
week course of intensive English and to have a taste of British society and culture.
This year we are looking for local families to act as hosts for three weeks, from 28th July
to l81
h August 2002. Excursions will be provided to places of interest and the students
will get the opportunity to take part in University activities. Hosts would receive
£120.00 per students, per week and are asked to provide them with bed, breakfast,
evening meal with lunch or a packed lunch at weekends.
For many of the previous students, the homestay has provided the highlight of their
visit, enabling them to experience our local culture at first hand. Hosts too have
enjoyed their own taste of Japanese culture.
