Abstract

The knowledge that underpins catheter-based cardiovascular intervention is both explicit and theoretical ‘knowledge-that’ and tacit and practical ‘knowledge-how’. It might seem that the transfer of theoretical knowledge depends on no tacit factors whilst the transfer of tacit knowledge is essentially difficult. This chapter shows that theoretical knowledge transfer rests on a tacit background whilst tacit knowledge can be made explicit and communicated albeit only in practical contexts.
