News release: Top award for busy mum

Abstract

A mum from Westhoughton has just won £200 for top academic performance at the
University of Central Lancashire.
Susan Zadorozny, 44, has an eight year old son, Jordan, and juggles studying with
working as an Office Manager for Altec Contract Engineering Services Ltd. She's
cunently on the second year of a degree course in Business Studies and Education
Studies at the Preston-based university. She received the Ede and Ravenscroft Award
for Academic Excellence for the results achieved in her first year.
"It's great to study subjects I actually enjoy", she says. "Eventually I'd like to use my
skills to train adults in the use of different computer software packages. Knowing that I
can achieve good results has given me lots of confidence."
Ede and Ravenscroft are suppliers of academic gowns to University staff and students
for awards ceremonies. The Ede and Ravenscroft prize is for students on Combined
Honours courses and is awarded for academic excellence during any year apart from the
final year of study.
