News release: Ambassador to attend catwalk extravaganza

Abstract

The Kyrgyz Ambassador to the UK has chosen Preston to be the first place he visits in
the UK outside London.
His Excellency, Mr Urkaly Isaev, will attend a spectacular East Meets West Fashion
Show at the University of Central Lancashire on the evening of Tuesday 2nd December.
The catwalk event will showcase the work of fmal year fashion design students at
UCLan and the work of fashion design students from the Kyrgyz Russian Slavonic
University in the Kyrgyz Republic.
A delegation of staff and students from the Kyrgyz University's fashion department are
in the UK for a cultural exchange being hosted by UCLan. They are the ftrst Kyrgyz
visitors to the Preston-based university.
The fashion show will feature mainly womenswear but with some menswear
collections. Glenda Brindle, Head of the Department of Art and Fashion says: ''There
will be some extremely bold and vivacious outfits on display - it promises to be a very
colourful and exciting evening."

There will be a reception before the fashion show in the Committee Room, Adelphi
Building, from 6pm, attended by the Kyrgyz Ambassador, UCLan VC Malcolm
McVicar and invited guests.
The fashion show begins at 7 .30pm in St Peter's Arts Centre.
