Abstract

Mature student Dave Towne took the plunge and went back to the classroom and ended
up- in Australia!
Dave, 30, is currently on the second year of a degree in Web, Multimedia and
Computing at the University of Central Lancashire. He is taking part in the University's
popular overseas exchange programme, where students get the opportunity to spend up
to a year at one of the University's partner institutions.
A former pupil of Cardinal Allen RC High School in Fleetwood, Dave spent some
years working in the seafood industry before deciding to go to university. He is
currently studying at the University of Western Sydney before returning to Preston in
the summer to complete the final year of his course.
"Studying here is different from home and keeps me very busy", said Dave, who lives
near Barton. "Australia is a fantastic place, though and I hope to go to the Formula 1
Grand Prix in Melbourne in early March!"
