Abstract
Students facing the possible challenges of going on to further education need up-to-date
financial advice. The University of Central Lancashire is helping to address this issue,
made all the more relevant by the Government's forthcoming review of funding for
English universities, due to be published soon.
The fifth annual national conference, Financial Guidance for Students, hosted by the
University in Preston, will be held over two days during the 15116 January 2003. It is
aimed at all those with an interest in ensuring that the nation's students get the best
possible financial advice and support. This includes workers in higher education,
schools, local government and students' unions.
Delegates will discuss issues such as student loans, allowances for students with special
needs and the availability of bursaries for students from groups not generally
represented in higher education. Experts from the University of Central Lancashire,
along with representatives from the Department for Education and Skills and the
Student Loans Company, will be on hand to ensure that delegates receive the most upto-
date information.
