Abstract
The University of Central Lancashire will be entering upon a new era with the installation of its second Chancellor, Sir Richard Evans, CBE DL.
Blackpool born Sir Richard has had a long and distinguished career in the aerospace industry, spanning thirty years. An Honorary Fellow of the University, he was knighted in 1996, and appointed Chairman of British Aerospace pic in 1998. Other positions held include that of Chairman of United Utilities (from January 2001) and former Non Executive Director of NatWest plc.
The University is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary, although as an institution it is considerably older. It recently welcomed a new Chair of the University Board, retired company director Malcolm Faulkner, and is now set to install its new Chancellor as it looks forward to the next ten years.
Since achieving university status in 1992, the University of Central Lancashire has doubled in size and is now the seventh largest university in the country. Links with industry continue to prosper and the University has been fortunate that both its outgoing Chancellor, Sir Francis Kennedy and its new Chancellor are so prominent in national and international business.
