Abstract

Using research undertaken for the implementation of a professional development module, the paper examines the use of e-stories as a vehicle for enhancing employability. It argues that e-stories should form a basis for learning how to explore organisational issues and problems to enhance a students employability prospects. It argues that students who are engaged in telling e-stories reflect the complex nature of organisational issues. Furthermore it argues that using e-stories from real organisations not case studies from a text book should be used as a primary instructional method. The paper examines the use of weblogs as a storytelling medium by examining students use of weblogs to relate their stories. It concludes with the benefits and positive effects of stories, arguing that e-stories are a powerful means of instruction to enhance employability as the learner can relate to the characters (other online students) and plot (other projects/presentations) within a specific context.
