Abstract

This thesis critically investigates the publication, reception and impact of the Corston Report (2007) on official penal discourse prior to and after its publication. The thesis applies the ideas of Canadian feminist penologist Kelly Hannah-Moffat, who has highlighted the potential mutation of feminist narratives of woman-centeredness and empowerment, to that of strategies of responsibilisation (Hannah-Moffat, 2001).
